Blue Lake contingent up against huge state series

Another group of fast two wheeled locals travelled to Adelaide for round 3 of the South Australian BMX state series in Tea Tree Gully earlier this month.

Nine Mount Gambier locals joined the huge turnout of 295 riders for the event, seeing some solid results again.

Each category ran off a schedule of four races, depending on how many competitors there were in each class, before breaking off in a finals race and B final for the 4th race, meaning the first three races were crucial to making it to the main race.

Blue Lake BMX Club’s best results again come from the sibling duo Jaiden and Sheridan Picken both won their categories respectively.

Jaiden won the 15 boys with a clean sweep of all four of his races, he also competed in JNR superclass where he was in a very good position after the first three races with two wins and a 4th place.

He made one little mistake in the final which cost him pole position forcing him to go off track to finish 8th.

Sister Sheridan backed up her home result with a win in the under 13 girls with three wins and 2nd place in her four races.

Peter Jelleff competed after his son Kain was forced to miss racing due to a training accident on the Tuesday training leading up to the event, resulting in a broken arm and will miss the next 6-8 weeks of riding.

Jelleff had a good weekend winning his class 44-49 men with three race wins out of four.

Mitchell Vorwerk finished with a 3rd overall in his class 17-24 men with Cody Jelleff winning that category.

Mikayla Leo was 5th in 11 girls, Archie Murdoch 10th in 11 boys, Hallam Davey 10th in 12 boys, Braith Allison 11th in 12 boys.
