Building closures due to power upgrade

The Portland Library, Portland Arts Centre and History House will be closed for three days next week due to a power upgrade in council’s Portland administration complex.

The buildings will be closed from Monday, June 3 to Wednesday, June 5.

The main council office including the Customer Service Centre will remain open during this time.

While the library will be closed Click and Collect services will still be available from the library outreach vehicle between 10am and noon on each of the three days – this vehicle will be parked between the Portland Library and Civic Hall.

Community members may pick up and browse library items on the bus and free wi-fi will be available for use from the bus during the hours of operation.

The critical power upgrade work is being done as part of council’s ongoing improvement of emergency response and management in the Glenelg Shire.

Works undertaken will enable the Portland administration complex to operate during power outages, enabling council to provide critical services, response and respite during emergencies especially with the Portland Civic Hall being one of council’s Emergency Relief Centres.
