Can West turn the tables on South to snatch finals double chance?

West Gambier will take on South Gambier at Blue Lake Sports Park in the last game of the home and away season.

In the three meetings these sides have had this season the Dees have won the last two with the Roos winning back in round 3 by seven points.

Both teams are coming off huge wins last week as they both scored over 130 points.

As this is these sides’ last home and away games there’s a lot of pressure on both teams to win.

The Dees currently sit in second place with 40 points while the Roos are in fourth on 36.

If the Dees lose this game they could fall out of second spot as the Tigers are clawing at their heels, also sitting on 36 points in third.
So this game could have a big effect on how the top four finishes up.

West’s Brandon Newton will be a key piece in their game plan, having been on a tear for the last couple of games, kicking 16 goals in the last two with 10 of them coming from last week’s win over the Doggies.

The Dees will need their midfield to be working hard in this game with the likes of Mitch Sims and Mason Hein required to stand up, having been key pieces in the Dees’ success this season.

This could be anyone’s game as both teams have a lot to play for, especially given how even these sides have been this season.

East Gambier v Millicent

The Saints will travel to the Mount on Saturday to take on East Gambier at the Kennel.

Millicent has defeated East in the three contests these sides have had this season.

The Saints are coming off a tough loss to the Tigers last week at home and will be looking to get back on track before finals begins, so it will be interesting to see how Millicent responds after the 24 point loss.

This week will be the last chance for East to pick up a win for the season as they still have not claimed a victory yet.

As the Saints have the number one spot on the ladder locked in and the Doggies cannot make finals there will not be a lot to play for except that elusive first win for East.

North Gambier v Casterton Sandford

The Cats will travel to Vansittart Park on Saturday to take on North Gambier, having been defeated by the Tigers in all three fairly competitive meetings this season.

The Cats are coming off a big loss to the Dees last week whereas the Tigers’ spirits will be high after beating the Saints in Millicent.

The Tigers will be eager to get the win this week as it will help their chances of securing the double chance opportunity in the finals if the Dees fall to the Roos.

The Tigers have also found some good form as they head into finals, winning three games in a row.

Casterton on the other hand have nothing to play for as they cannot make finals.

However, the Cats will definitely be giving it their all on Saturday, looking
for the upset and also looking to spoil North’s chances of making the top
two.
