Canadian secured for NBL1 season

The OneFortyOne Mount Gambier Pioneers are excited to have signed experienced 190.5 cm Canadian, Cassandra Brown (pictured) for the 2022 NBL1 season.

This is exceptional news for the Pioneers coming just over three months before the season starts.

Brown is a high performing international player who has played most recently in Luxembourg.

She has also played in leagues in Sweden, Greece, Slovakia and Poland.

Brown has represented Canada at the Under 18’s level, but more recently for the Canadian Team in the 2019 Pan American Games and has played professionally since she left University in 2015.

OneFortyOne Pioneers women’s team head coach Matt Sutton was thrilled that Brown would form part of his roster for the coming season.

“I’m looking forward to having Cassandra join our squad,” he said.

“She is a versatile player that has great size and length which will give us versatility at both ends of the court.

Cassandra brings a lot of experience from overseas to our group, she has represented her national team Canada and has a fantastic college and professional career resume.

“She’s going to be a big boost for our program.”

In the 2021-22 Luxembourg League Brown averaged 54% shooting from the field and an impressive 20.5 points per game.

The Pioneers expect Brown to add extra depth to the team as an excellent offensive contributor for the team, but also a strong defensive performer.

The OneFortyOne Pioneers and the Castec Rural Pioneers will start their 2022 NBL1 South campaigns in April 2022.
