Candidates face voters

The Beachport District Development Association recently staged a successful candidates’ forum ahead of the four-yearly election for Wattle Range Council.

The meet-and-greet session lasted 90 minutes and was held at the South Coast Cinema in Beachport.

Serving Corcoran ward councillor Sharon Cox and newcomers Richard Cassidy and Carrie Adamo are seeking the two vacancies on Kintore ward.

The trio gave formal presentations and then took questions from the floor regarding such matters as consultation and communication.

The independent chairman was BDDA secretary Pamela Stratford and 27 interested persons were present.

The two Kintore Ward incumbents were elected unopposed at the two last polls in 2014 and 2018.

Cr Kevin McGrath is leaving local government while Cr Peter Dunnicliff is looking to extend his 16-year council career by standing again in Corcoran ward.
