Centrals look to strike back

Senior Men

Gambier Centrals v International

Inter will head to MGA Park on Sunday to face Centrals, after only facing each other two weeks ago.

Centrals will be keen to seek redemption as in that game Inter defeated Centrals 10-1.

Centrals had a lot of bad luck in that game with an early red card and several injuries to crucial players in their starting 11.

After having the bye last week hopefully Centrals are recharged for this game.

Inter is coming off an intense game where they found themselves down 2-0 at half time.

They were able to come back to win 3-2 in that game and they will be looking to build off their second half success.

Given the amount of injuries that Centrals, has club president Shane Dycer said it would present opportunities for the club’s younger junior players.

“We have been really good this season playing our under 17s,” he said.

“Alex Obedi played very well on the weekend, Pacifique Baraka and Nico Teodoro have already been regular fixtures in our 16.

“In the next week or two if things keep tracking with the injuries and the kids keep playing as well as they are I’m sure they will all be looked at.”

Apollo v Blue Lake

Blue Lake will take on Apollo this week on Sunday in what is set to be a cracker game, as when they met two weeks ago the game ended in a 4-4 draw.

Apollo had a two goal lead late in that game and collapsed after Blue Lake scored two goals in extra time.

Apollo are coming off a tough loss where they had a two goal lead at half time and lost to Inter.

They will be eager to get back on the pitch and pick up the three points.

Blue Lake are coming off a huge win against Naracoorte where they won 16-1, which is set to send them into this game with plenty of confidence and energy.

Apollo will be looking to get away to an early lead and to hold it in this game as they cannot afford to drop points again to a top four team.

Senior Women

Gambier Centrals v International

Inter will head to MGA Park on Saturday to take on Centrals, with the black and blue hoping to reverse the results of their last match up.

Last time these sides played Centrals defeated Inter 4-1 and with a tough loss last week Inter will be looking to pick up their first win of the season

Centrals also are coming off a tough loss where they lost to Millicent 4-0.

Although Centrals have had a solid season so far they sit fourth on the ladder with Inter only one spot below.

It will be interesting to see if Inter can come together and pick up their first win.

Apollo v Blue Lake

Blue Lake will take on Apollo this week on Saturday.

Last time these sides met Blue Lake played a competitive game against Apollo with Apollo coming away with a 2-1 victory.

Both teams are coming off solid wins last week with Apollo picking up an 8-2 victory and Blue Lake getting the clean sheet with a 3-0 victory.

This should be a very competitive game given how well Blue Lake have been playing over the past few weeks and they should definitely give Apollo a run for their money.

Naracoorte United v Millicent United

Millicent United will travel to Naracoorte this week to face Naracoorte United on Sunday.

So far Millicent have been having a really good season, only losing one game which was a 1-0 defeat to Apollo.

They are currently coming off back to back wins and will be very confident heading into this match.

Naracoorte, on the other hand, has been struggling as the side sits bottom on the ladder with one draw and five losses.

Last time these sides met Millicent defeated Naracoorte – 7-1.

Millicent will be very confident they pick up the three points away from home in this game.
