Centrals/Uniting aims to reestablish its stranglehold in the fight for the Mount Gambier and District Tennis Association Division 1 premiership in this Saturday’s 13th r ound.
The near flawless team was stunned by a buoyant Reidy Park unit and will be keen to regain some momentum against West Gambier.
Mark Heemskurk’s team has accounted for West comfortably in both contests earlier in the summer, so it would be a surprise to see the third-ranked push the ladder leaders to the final set.
Glencoe remains winless, but the breakthrough could be getting closer after a fighting effort against West away from home.
As the contest crept into the doubles, Dylan Childs’ team was in the thick of the fight, but defeats in the final five rubbers shattered its dream.
Glencoe will be encouraged by the performance and will challenge itself to a more consistent day this weekend.
However, it will be no easy task with a Reidy Park outfit on top of its game awaiting.
Led by Zayne Young, the team is flying high after securing a narrow, but vital victory over the all-conquering Centrals/Uniting last weekend.
Cade Kelly, Emily Edwards, Sarah Edwards and Jayme Young were in fine form and will be tough to beat with so much confidence in their games.
