Chicago talent signs for Pioneers’ season

The Castec Rural Pioneers are excited to announce the signing of 201cm US import Christian Peevy (pictured) for the NBL1 South Conference 2024 season.

Twenty-five-year-old Peevy played 60 games for the Lynn Fighting Knights, averaging 10.07 points per game in US College Basketball.

Most recently, Peevy has been playing for KK Alkar in Croatia, where he has averaged 12 points per game, shooting 54.1% from the floor.

Castec Rural Pioneers Head Coach Richard Hill said he was delighted with the signing of Peevy.

“Christian is a versatile and gifted athlete whose size and skillset enables him to play on the wing or as a stretch four,” Hill said.

“We were very close to signing Christian last season, but he opted to play in Croatia where he had a very good season averaging 12 points and five rebounds showing his versatility at both ends of the floor.

“I believe he will be a perfect fit in our system and look forward to getting to work with him when he arrives in February.”

The Castec Rural Pioneers and OneFortyOne Pioneers are scheduled to play their first game in the 2024 NBL1 South season against Sandringham Sabres April 6.

Their first home game at Wulanda will be against Frankston Blues on April 13.
