Feedback from the public has been invited by the Millicent Business Community Association on the activities arranged by it for December 24 in Millicent.
Music, competitions and special offers were among the drawcards to George Street and Davenport Street along with a roaming Father Christmas who went from store-to-store.
MBCA co-chairperson Fiona Telfer has thanked her members that got involved in the “Christmas Eve in Millie” promotion.
“We wanted to keep it simple and we appreciate those that took the time and had ideas and ran with them,” Ms Telfer said.
“Certainly, some things were more popular than others. Many were confused on why George Street was not shut which many of us older ones remember the good old days when it was.
“Times have changed though and amusements are hard to book and there is less retail so that does play a problem with so much space to fill also.
“However, we hope to build on offering something to support our MBCA members at this time of the year.”
The MBCA on-line survey about “Christmas Eve in Millie” poses questions about the absence of a closed street and the value of such in-store promotions as the Hidden Elf on the Shelf.
Meanwhile, the winner of the MBCA Best Christmas Window Display was Millicent Windows and Doors in Davenport Street.
The Millicent Lights up competition winners were 157 Mount Gambier Road (first), 2 Smith Street in Southend (second) and 238 Mount Gambier Road and 34 Bonshor Street (equal third). The People’s choice winner was won by 9 McCourt Street in Millicent.
