Mount Gambier’s picturesque Cave Gardens precinct has been transformed into a night-time winter wonderland, as Illuminate Adelaide hits town.
The city’s central park is hosting Digital Garden, part of the regional tour of Illuminate Adelaide, for the second year.
Illuminate Adelaide co-founders and creative directors Rachael Azzopardi and Lee Cumberlidge were thrilled with the turnout for the opening weekend of the event, which runs nightly until August 21.
“The opening weekend has exceeded all our expectations,” they said.
“We are overwhelmed with the sensational response that saw thousands of people visit Illuminate Adelaide’s Digital Garden at Cave Garden/Thugi.
“To see so many families and the local community exploring Digital Garden was magnificent.”
Building on its success in 2021, Digital Garden once again reimagined the cultural centre of Mount Gambier with captivating installations, projections and interactive lighting.
“A highlight of this project will be an interactive installation by Jen Lewin Studio titled The Pool,” they said.
“Merging the movements of individuals to create an overlapping and everchanging collage of light, The Pool is a giant field of concentric circles that swirl with colour when activated by touch.
“Inspired by Australian tidal rock pools, The Pool uses cutting edge mesh-network technology and custom code to bring this vivid and ever-changing composition to life.”
Other artists featured in the gardens include Submergence by Squidsoup and Neon Winter and I Am Here by Carla O’Brien.
