Atotal of 39 women competed in the second round of the Summer Cup last Wednesday.

In the Stableford game conditions were very favourable to the players and resulted in nine ladies playing to their Handicaps or better.

In Division 1 with a great score of 39 points and taking out first place was current club champion Kerry Pedlar (10).

Pedlar Kerry had 80 off the stick, which included a birdie on the sixth hole, plus an impressive tally of 11 pars.

The round marked a big moment for Pedlar as she play off a single-figure handicap for the first time in her next appearance at the course.

Runner-up on a count-back from Di Norman was Leanne Hunt, who carded 38 points with her split being 18/20.

Hunt only recorded one wipe but had seven three pointers on her scorecard.

Lorraine Bruhn (38) won Division 2 with a great score of 40 points.

Bruhn played consistent golf with her card showing 21 points on the front and 19 on the back.

A very excited golfer was Lizzie Clements (45) even though she was unlucky to lose on a count-back.

Clements registered 40 points also and took out second placing in Division 2 with this lovely score.

Nine Ladies received a ball in the ball run-down with high scores Norman 21 points, Vicki Clark 18 points and Clements 22 points were the most prolific front nine scores in the A, B and C Grades respectively.

The Pro Shot on the eighth Par 3 hole was taken out by Norman.

Next week’s competition will be the Final Round of the Summer Cup and the format will be a Par Round.

Last Saturday 22 women played a Stableford round at the Mount Gambier Golf Course in perfect weather with a few tricky pin placements.

Conquering the course in an easy fashion was Camilla Knowles (24) who has been away on a long break from golf but played a very consistent round, with a pair of 22-point splits.

Knowles had no wipe-outs so had a legitimate 89 off the stick was her best score ever.

On the Par 5 17th hole she carded a Birdie and had five pars overall to drop her handicap.

The second placegetter was Helen Gregor (14) who won on a count-back from Carol Davis.

Both players had splits of 21 and 18 points resulted in a total of 39 and the count-back came down to the last three holes where Gregor prevailed registering eight pars on her card.
