Congregation moves outdoors

Millicent GP Dr Stephan Van Eeden led an outdoors service for his fellow Millicent Lutherans at Lake McIntyre recently.

Dr Van Eeden is a lay reader and the deputy chairman of the St Paul’s Church Council. His address was titled “the universe and the bible”.

The outdoors service had the other usual elements of a regular church service including singing, prayers and scripture readings.

It was followed by a general knowledge trivia quiz conducted by Reuben Van Eeden and then a barbecue lunch.

It has long been a custom of Millicent Lutherans to have a yearly picnic.

Also taking part in 2020 were members of the Transforming Faith youth group which includes members from other denominations.

St Paul’s will have services on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The congregation has staged a nativity play in the grounds of the Millicent radio/railway station on the past two Christmas Eves but this event will not be staged in 2020.
