Dedicated service recognised with club life membership

The Mount Gambier Pioneers have added a new life member to their club, with long-serving board member Travis Fatchen honoured.

The club announced the honour at its major auction night dinner.

In 2012 after some challenging seasons on court, the board recognised that it needed to adopt strong community focused people to assist in raising the profile and brand of the basketball club and welcomed Fatchen to the Pioneers Basketball Club board.

Club president Tom Kosch said Fatchen was a passionate and committed basketball person.

“He has often supported the Pioneers games with his family and was also active in the local basketball community, playing both B grade social basketball and supporting his kids who were competing within the Basketball Mount Gambier association at the time,” he said.

“At the end of the 2017 SEABL season club president Neil Boase stood down with Travis being elected vice president of the club.

“Over his 10 years of service, Trav has been pivotal in game night duties and preparation, in particular looking after the corporate bar for our sponsors and the set up of game nights.

“Thank you, Travis, for your commitment and contribution to our club, and congratulations on becoming a Pioneers Basketball Club life member.”
