Early results from First Nations Voice vote released

The Electoral Commission of South Australia has released the provisional declaration of results for the seven elected members for Region 4 in the South Australian First Nations Voice to Parliament election.

Region 4 incorporates the South East and Riverland, with the March 16 election providing an opportunity for South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to vote to elect their representatives to the South Australian First Nations Voice to Parliament.

After the distribution of preferences Rob Wright, Tim Hartman, Darryle Barnes, Danni Smith, Eunice Aston and Sheryl Giles were elected to represent Region 4.

Only South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were eligible to vote and nominate as a candidate in the election.

There are six Local Voice regions state-wide with seven positions available in each and 11 for the Central region – for individuals to be elected on the Local Voice for the region.

Just over 100 South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders contested for 46 positions across six regions to represent the Local First Nations Voice.
