The Stand Like Stone Penola Pop-Up Fashion Market is making a comeback at Rymill Hall.
The market will be held on Cameron Street from Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30 after a successful market was held earlier this year.
People can wander through and pick up a bargain with women’s, men’s and kids pre-loved brand name clothing, shoes and accessories for sale. All items are in excellent used condition.
The money raised will go towards the Penola Coonawarra Stand Like Stone sub fund.
Stand Like Stone Penola director Rhett McDonald said proceeds from the fund were spent on charitable projects exclusively in the Penola Coonawarra region.
The previous market raised more than $1800 in donations for the sub fund which supported Penola’s Swinging With the Stars contestant Kate Palm.
Penola and Coonawarra have a Stand Like Stone sub fund and a small working committee involved in the event, with this particular event run by Penola Coonawarra Stand Like Stone working committee member Amanda Flint and her team.
Mr McDonald said the idea for the market evolved from a discussion regarding how much fashion wastage occurred in the world today.
“We decided that a fashion market of excellent condition used clothing had a place in our area and so the Stand Like Stone Fashion Pop-Up Market was born,” he said.
“It is bringing the community out and together to stay connected and supportive; this makes for a stronger, safer community.
“To repurpose clothing is affordable, environmentally friendly, helps sustainability and reduces costly consumerism and waste.”
