Amotorist has been jailed for 5.5 years for causing the deaths by dangerous driving of two former Millicent residents on the Portland-Nelson Road at Mount Richmond on Christmas Eve 2020.
Tyrendarra farmer David James Frost, 53, was the driver of a Jeep which crashed into a Holden killing its driver 16-year-old Erynn Job and her mother and front seat passenger Megan Grayling.
In the back seat was Jacinta Atchison who suffered serious injuries but survived.
Mr Frost pleaded guilty to three charges – two of dangerous driving causing death, and a single count of dangerous driving causing serious injury.
The Victorian County Court heard Mr Frost’s Jeep drifted onto the wrong side of the road at 10.21am on Christmas Eve before hitting the Holden carrying the other three people.
Mr Frost had methamphetamine in his system and was suffering from fatigue.
Furthermore, he was diagnosed with sleep apnoea after the crash.
The County Court heard last month from a number of grieving family members.
Their victim impact statements described the trauma and psychological injury caused by the deaths of Ms Grayling and Ms Job.
Judge Amanda Chambers said the statements also gave a strong sense of a very close and loving family.
Mr Frost was sentenced in the County Court last week and has already spent 565 days in custody.
He will be eligible for parole after serving 3.5 years in jail.
