Festival market stalls

Inclement weather forced organisers to cancel the Geltwood Festival twilight market that was to be held in Millicent on Saturday evening.

A severe weather warning for damaging winds was issued for the evening, prompting the cancellation of the twilight event was scheduled to take place at the Millicent Rotunda Parklands.

Gazebos and safety barriers had already been erected the day before in anticipation of the event to take place.

However, organisers announced the decision at around 12.30pm on Saturday to cancel the event.

Instead, the Saturday market held indoors at the Millicent showgrounds stayed open a little longer past the usual closing time of 1pm to make up for the twilight cancellation.

It is yet unknown whether festival organisers will reschedule the event.

Meanwhile, other outdoor events that went ahead at Millicent over the weekend included the opening of Millicent High School’s Easel Art in the Domain and Skate Park Leagues regional series skatepark competition.

Other festival events that were unaffected by the forecast that took place indoors included quilting displays at the Millicent Visitor Information Centre and Millicent Gallery.

The youth of the community were invited to a frightful event on Saturday evening with the Millicent Youth Advisory Council hosting a spooktacular Halloween themed disco at the Millicent RSL.
