Field naturalists celebrate

The Millicent Field Naturalists Society is to celebrate its 60th anniversary with a full program of activities on September 10.

The day will begin at 10am with morning tea at Lake McIntyre.

There will be a walk around the Lake McIntyre area and committee members will be on hand to answer any questions.

A barbecue lunch will be provided and this will be a time to catch up with fellow field naturalists.

At 1.30pm, participants will move to the rooms of the South East Family History Group situated next to the Millicent National Trust Museum.

There will be photos on the large screen, a guest speaker and memorabilia on display.

The Millicent Field Naturalists lost a significant amount of valuable information and books during a suspected arson attack at the museum in 2005.

As a result, newspaper clippings or other memorabilia are being sought.

“We look forward to seeing past members and hearing their recollections,” committee member Sheila Boyle said.
