Fifth time’s a charm for hospital open day

The Millicent and District Hospital’s Open Day has been re-scheduled for the fifth time and will now be held in October at the same time as the long-running Millicent junior basketball tournament.

The previous earmarked date was April 28.

One of the anticipated highlights will be tours of the upgraded student nurse accommodation in the former matron’s apartment.

The last of the three stages is the bathroom renovation and this is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The last Millicent Hospital Open Day was held almost five years ago when hundreds walked through the grounds, wards and operating theatres.

The Open Day is an initiative of the Millicent Health Advisory Council and the new date was chosen at its March 21 meeting.

There was considerable discussion at the Millicent HAC meeting about the decision of Health Q Consulting to extend the closing date for a vital online input form.

The extension provides community members with an additional week to participate in consultation for the Radiation Treatment Feasibility Study.

The survey will now remain open until April 3.

New Limestone Coast Local Health Network chief executive Emma Poland was present at the Millicent HAC meeting along with Millicent Hospital’s acting executive officer/director of nursing Sally

Milson.

Earlier in the day, Ms Poland met the four executive members of the Millicent and Surrounds Health Support Group.
