Influenza all but disappeared from the Wattle Range Council area during the last financial year.
There was just one case of the ‘flu’ reported by the State Government’s Communicable Diseases Branch between July 1, 2020 and June 30 of last year.
This compares to 72 influenza cases in Wattle Range in 2019/20.
The reduction is in line with many other places in SA and has been attributed to greater personal hygiene measures prompted by the COVID pandemic.
The number of COVID cases in the Wattle Range Council area is currently well into the three figures.
However, there was no COVID in Wattle Range last financial year and only two cases in 2019/20.
