The recent 60th anniversary celebrations at Kangaroo Inn Area School brought together two staff members with remarkable teaching records.
Tina Stanhope was appointed as a primary school teacher to KIAS in 1969 and remained there until her retirement 38 years later in 2007.
As she lived at Robe, Ms Stanhope had a round trip of almost 100km each day.
The current longest-serving KIAS teacher is Angela Leopold who has clocked up almost 29 years of service across primary and secondary grades.
After her teacher training at university in Adelaide, Ms Leopold began her teaching career at Millicent High School.
She transferred to KIAS at the beginning of 1995.
As well as friendship, Ms Leopold said they share another rare bond.
“Tina taught my husband Tim Leopold and later our children Ben and Ellie,” she said.
