The countdown is on to the return of Fringe Mount Gambier in 2022 – with organisers promising the event will be “out of this world”.
After a full cancellation of the festival in 2020, the team behind Fringe planned a mini festival in 2021, which ended up delivering 60 events in 20 venues over 10 days, supporting the local hospitality industry and artists and entertainers who had been hit hard by the pandemic.
With COVID restrictions still very fluid, the Mount Gambier team will be working hard to ensure they plan for all contingencies and deliver a fun, family-friendly arts festival from March 25 to April 2.
Fringe spokesperson Talie Teakle said one of the areas that would be expanded was the FringeOUT program from 2021.
“FringeOUT saw Fringe artists and activities delivered throughout aged care facilities and schools as part of a community outreach line-up, as well as some free family entertainment and an offering of ticketed events you have come to love as part of the open access festival,” she said.
“FringeUP will also be returning and will encourage homes, schools and businesses to decorate their premises in the lead up to the festival, with the added twist of a theme that is ‘out of this world’.
“Bring your site to life with blue aliens and monsters to create the Fringe atmosphere and vibrancy we have loved over the last five years.”
Ms Teakle said open access registrations would start mid-September until mid-December.
“If you are a venue with a great act lined up, or perhaps want to offer something online as part of the FringeIN program, keep an eye on our website and social media channels for the call out and information on a ‘How to Fringe’ session and become a part of Mount Gambier’s own Fringe festival,” she said.
