Full throttle cancer fundraiser

Following on from the success of the inaugural Cancer Council Cup last year, the Mount Gambier Motor Cycle Club will again be running the Cancer Council Cup feature races as part of their Seniors Road Race meeting this weekend.

Last year the club raised over $7000 for the Cancer Council SA and received a lot of support from community organisations, with members deciding that raising money for the Cancer Council SA was a way the club could give back to the community in a meaningful way.

The Seniors Road Race meeting is a long running favourite amongst members, and while the riders might be older (45 plus), the action is as fierce as ever.

In addition to the regular class-based races, combined classes (age of bike plus agew of rider) add an extra element to the competition, pitching a wide variety of bikes and riders against each other to create an exciting spectacle.

The three Cancer Council Cup feature races (Lightweight, Heavyweight and Sidecar) will be run on Sunday and add an element of uncertainty, as final placings are determined by a combination of a rider’s finishing position on track and a time bonus depending on the amount of money they raise.

Spectators are welcome to participate by either donating money to riders to increase their chances of winning, or by purchasing raffle tickets, with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council SA.

Mac Park is known for offering great viewing options for spectators, and people are welcome to wander the pits, see the bikes up close and meet the riders.

Full canteen and bar facilities will be available all weekend, with entry only $10 per day with under 16s free.
