The Limestone Coast is well represented in the AFL with plenty of home-grown players starring on the national stage.
The SE Voice’s sports journo Will Boston takes a look at how our locals fared in Round 2.
Jordan Dawson
It was another big performance for Jordan Dawson and the Crows as they took on the Bombers at the G on Saturday.
Dawson had 33 disposals, eight marks, six tackles and five clearances in the 61 point victory.
The former Robian was great in the contest as he had 10 contested possessions and despite not kicking a goal he was still heavily involved in the scoring as he had a goal assist, eight score involvements and two score launches.
Moving the footy the captain was the best in the game, having 22 kicks and recording 775 metres gained.
This week the Crows should be in a good position to get another win as they host the Kangas on Sunday.
Mitch Hinge
Mitch Hinge had another solid game on Saturday as he recorded 16 disposals, five tackles and two clearances.
Hinge used the footy well, having a disposal efficiency of 87.5% while having two score launches and three rebound 50s.
Overall he looked very solid in the game as he improves every week.
This Sunday Hinge should be in for another solid performance as the Crows take on the Roos.
Darcy Fogarty
Darcy Fogarty had yet another great game as he continues to put goals on the board.
Against the Bombers Fogarty had three goals, 14 disposals, nine marks and 11 kicks in the win.
The Fog continues to be a key piece in the Crows forward line as he had eight score involvements and a goal assist.
In the marking contest Fogarty was doing it all with four marks inside 50, two contested marks and four marks on the lead.
After two games Fogarty sits second in the Coleman medal with seven goals.
Mason Redman
Mason Redman had a solid game on Saturday despite the tough loss. Redman had 18 disposals, five marks and 15 kicks.
A down area in Redman’s game was his tackling which he is normally good at as he did not record one in the match.
In the marking contest Red Dog was solid, having two contested marks and three intercept marks.
Scoring-wise Redman was solid, having two score involvements and a score launch.
Tonight the Bombers will look to get on the winners list as they take on the Power at Marvel.
Jeremy Cameron
It was a rough night for Jeremy Cameron and the Cats as they suffered a tough loss to the Saints on Saturday.
Cameron finished the game with 16 disposals, two marks, a tackle and one goal.
Jezza still got involved in the game despite kicking the one goal as he had six score involvements along with two score launches.
After a tough loss the Cats will have to bounce back fast as they take on the Lions on Saturday at the Gabba.
Brad Close
Brad Close did not have much of an impact on Saturday in the Cats’ loss to the Saints.
Close had seven disposals, four tackles, one clearance and a goal in the loss.
Close had limited involvement up forward as he only had three score involvements and one score launch.
After a tough game the former Northie will have to be at his best this week when the Cats play the Lions.
Lachie Neale
Lachie Neale was back to his best on Sunday as the Lions took down the Eagles with 35 disposals, eight marks, eight clearances and a goal in the win.
Like always Neale was great setting up goals as he had seven score involvements, three score launches and a goal assist.
The Kid from Kyby was also great at clearances across the ground having four stoppage clearances and four centre clearances.
After a down week for Neale in round one this was the great bounce back game.
The Lions will have a tough contest this week when they face the Cats.
Toby Pink
Toby Pink made his 2025 debut on Sunday as the Roos had a big win over the Dees at Marvel.
Pink had the best game of his career with 12 disposals, nine marks and three tackles.
With the footy Pink was reliable, having a 91.7% disposal efficiency.
He was also solid in the marking contest with a contest mark and two intercept marks in the match.
After a performance like that, Pink will be looking a good chance of staying in the senior side as the Roos face the Crows in SA.
Tom McDonald
It was a tough day for Tom McDonald and the Dees as they had a rough loss to the Kangaroos.
McDonald had 13 disposals, four marks and seven kicks in the loss.
Defensively he was solid, having seven spoils and two intercept marks.
Overall, it’s been a rough start to the season for McDonald and the Dees as they have yet to win a game yet.
They will have a tough challenge this week when they face the Suns at the G on Saturday.
