Mount Gambier residents will have the opportunity to meet greyhounds ready for foster and adoption at Greyhounds as Pets’ (GAP SA) first ever regional Adoption and Foster Day on Saturday, October 15.
An initiative of Greyhound Racing SA (GRSA), GAP SA finds fur-ever homes for both retired and non-racing greyhounds.
Now in its 25th year, the program continues to go from strength to strength, with a record 488 dogs adopted last financial year.
GRSA CEO Bodelle Francis said the GAP SA team was excited to head to the South East.
“We have been working to expand our leading GAP SA initiative into the regions and give more South Australians the opportunity to meet and adopt these loving, loyal, well-mannered dogs,” Francis said.
“Adoption Days are a great way to get to know the breed and find a dog that suits your home and family – I encourage any Mount Gambier resident looking for a new furry friend to come along.”
GAP SA sets the standard for greyhound rehoming in Australia and works to provide the highest standards of welfare to these beautiful animals both on and off the track.
The team assess every greyhound that comes into their care to ensure they match each dog’s personality to the right owner and lifestyle.
“GRSA’s whole of life commitment to every greyhound ensures continued care for these animals from pups, throughout their careers and onto their transition from racing,” Bodelle said.
“I look forward to seeing the joy these dogs bring to their new owners, as I’m sure they will bring to their dog.
“It’s such a rewarding program for all involved.”
GAP SA’s Mount Gambier Adoption and Foster Day will be held from 1pm-4pm, on October 15 at the Mount Gambier Greyhound Racing Club, 1861 Lake Terrace East.
