Halloween marked in ‘spooktacular’
fashion

The Limestone Coast was overrun with creepy characters and ghastly ghouls on Sunday as Halloween gripped the region.

The event was celebrated in “spooktacular” fashion with children around Mount Gambier revelling in the abundance of treats and even tricks on Sunday night.

The ‘Trick or Treat + Halloween Homes 2021 Mount Gambier Facebook Page’ admin Jes Smith said it was the biggest year most people had seen.

Miss Smith said houses ran out of treats as the number of trick or treaters was far more than they expected.

“One house handing our 400 small bags of Oreos ran out, another house ran out of treats within an hour forcing them to close while in another instance a residence ran out of lollies so quickly, they had to run out and get more,” she said.

Miss Smith contributed the large number of Halloween goers to the map of homes taking part.

“The interactive Google map was a huge success with it being viewed by 566 people,” she said.

Miss Smith said those who were out and about in Mount Gambier might have witnessed people using their phones to view the map and travel from one house to another.

“I have had feedback from several people they felt more comfortable being able to knock on doors knowing they were accepting trick or treaters,” she said.

“Every single person that turned up to my house had their phone in their hand and jumped back in the car and used the maps to decide where to go next.

“I did not create the page but I took it over this year and it has been very easy to do.

“Everyone was lovely, it has been fantastic and I will see everyone next year.”

Roadhouse on O’Leary was a popular spot for tiny trick or treaters, who were greeted by scary staff and plenty of Halloween decorations.

Mount Gambier Central celebrated Halloween a day early with a spooky spectacular.

The complex hosted a free trick or treat trail, Halloween photobooth and plenty of free crafts and family spooky fun.
