Health message shared

Apowerful message about mental health will be delivered by a visiting war veteran to First Responders in Millicent this month.


Nathan Bolton is being sponsored by the Wattle Range Suicide Prevention Network to give three presentations.


The network has arranged an annual guest presentation for several years for schools and public sessions with First Responders added in 2025.


As before, one presentation will be for senior school students with the public session set down for 7pm on May 21 at the Millicent RSL Hall.


Mr Bolton is a dedicated advocate for mental health, leveraging his personal journey to offer impactful support and guidance to others.


He is a sought-after keynote speaker, delivering powerful presentations that illuminate the complexities of mental health, reduce stigma and promote help-seeking.


With a background as a Special Operations Engineer serving in Afghanistan with the Australian Special Forces, Mr Bolton faced the harsh realities of war firsthand.


His primary responsibility involved detecting and neutralising Improvised Explosive Devices, a duty that took a toll on his mental wellbeing.
​Following his tours, Mr Bolton confronted the profound effects of his experiences, battling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and major depression.


These struggles led him into a period of profound isolation and internal turmoil.


Despite the challenges, Mr Bolton embarked on a courageous journey towards healing.


Through seeking help and confronting his vulnerabilities, he emerged from the darkness with newfound resilience and wisdom.
