Health workers praised

An open invitation has been extended to the Millicent and district health and emergency services personnel and their families to attend a Post-Pandemic Appreciation Day on November 13.

Nurses, support workers, medical staff, firefighters, police, ambulance officers and SES volunteers and their kith and kin will be welcomed to Centennial Park in Millicent from noon.

They can indulge in a free barbecue lunch and hot donuts provided by the Millicent Lions Club.

Supported by Wattle Range Council, the Post-Pandemic Appreciation Day is a joint initiative of the Millicent and surrounding areas Health Support Group and the Millicent Health Advisory Council.

The function is a way for the community to thank the local health and emergency services workers for their sterling efforts during the past three years when COVID threw up many challenges.

Meanwhile, the two health groups are staging a further promotional function on the evening of December 1 at the Somerset Hotel in Millicent.

Dubbed the “Parmi, Pint and Prostate Night”, it will be limited to a gathering of 40.

The guest speakers will be Limestone Coast Prostate Cancer Support Nurse Tracey Bryant and prostate cancer survivor Laurie Dacy.
