There was plenty of activity at the Millicent National Trust Museum last Sunday for its annual Heritage Day which coincided with the school holidays and the Labour Day holiday long weekend.
As in past years, there was free entry to the museum and this represented a $12 saving per adult.
Participants could view a working blacksmith forge and a working stationary engine which formerly powered the shearing plant at Gillap Station at Furner until 1970.
Peter Foster OAM gave workshops on the lost art of pin-striping while other displays focussed on crocheting, weaving and dairy memorabilia.
As always, some of the permanent displays proved popular with visitors.
They included the dozens of fully restored, horse-drawn buggies, carriages and wagons, the beautiful gowns from the Helen Hughes Collection, the Shipwreck Room and Aboriginal deep cave art replicas.
Trust members also provided guided tours of the collection.
