Hobitz secures grand ticket

A Grade – Hobitz def Saints

Preliminary final action was played in the Mount Gambier Netball Association between Hobitz and Saints at Olympic Park on Saturday with fast and furious action sweeping the courts.

Both sides played some aggressive netball and traded passes across the court, in turn making both defensive ends work hard.

Hobitz goal shooter Jordi Gower was on fire and had her team buzzing, playing the role well with support from Maddy Cowland.

Up the other end for the Saints Paige Carter and Bec Humphries scored freely to keep their team in the action.

With the game being so close there was also action off the court, with large supporter bases arriving to cheer their team along.

Hobitz centre Kym Stewart was a driving force and created multiple plays for her team, while Saint Nicole Forrest had her work cut out for her chasing her opponent around.

Rebounds from Hobitz was also exceptionally good and this started with Suzanne Crowe and Lisa Rainey.

Crowe was not afraid to come out of the goal circle to drive the ball down the court.

Saints’ goalkeeper Rhiannon Christian battled hard for her team trying to put the pressure on the attack of Hobitz.

In the end Hobitz found another gear and took control of the game, going on to win by 16 goals and booking a place in the 2022 Mount Gambier Netball Association Grand Final against Intruders.

A2 – INTRUDERS V SAINTS

It was a tight battle in this game with a seven-goal win to Intruders over Saints.

Both sides were eager to get out to an early lead and maintain it, with little separating the rivals across the four quarters.

But it was a good, contested netball game played by Intruders that got the win to advance through to the A2 decider.

B1 – AMAZONS V INTRUDERS BLACK

At the final siren it was a one goal win to Amazons who were up and about against Intruders Black.

Players from each team worked hard to control the game, but it came down to the wire.

When the game was there to be won, Amazons got over the line in a nail-biting finish.

B2 – SAINT V INTRUDERS

A17-goal win was recorded by Saints over Intruders in this match to go through to compete in the grand final.

Saints had it all their own way and made the most of it, piling on the goals in a complete performance.

To the credit of Intruders, they did put up a fight but it was not enough to get the win.

Under 19 – ZODIACS V HOBITZ BLUE

Abattle was had in this game between the rising talents of Zodiacs and Hobitz Blue.

Zodiacs finished second on the ladder with Hobitz Blue in third, but only one win separated both teams at the end of the minor season.

After a tight scrap, it was Zodiacs that got the winner’s prize and they will now focus on the grand prize against Hobitz Red.

Under 15 – SAINTS V HOBITZ BLUE

Hobitz Blue made the most of their opportunities and took the preliminary final head on.

These junior stars put on an impressive game of netball, but it was Saints that got the win by six goals to progress to next week.

UNDER 13 A – INTRUDERS V SAINTS

Saints recorded a 19-goal win over Intruders and showed the crowd a good display of netball.

After a solid all-round team performance Saints will get the chance to play in the big dance in search of the 2022 premiership.

UNDER 13 B – ZODIACS V HOBITZS

Zodiacs scored an impressive 17 goal win over Hobitz in the Under 13 B preliminary final with an outstanding performance over Hobitz on Saturday.

Despite the result, both teams have had a wonderful year and should be immensely proud of their achievements.
