Mount Gambier singer-songwriter Anne Fraser invites people to a cosy afternoon of storytelling and poetry this Mother’s Day.
Her show, ‘Take a Seat Around the Fire,’ will be held at the Old Courthouse, Mount Gambier next Saturday from 3pm until 5.30pm.
Ms Fraser organised the event together with the National Trust and she is looking forward to sharing her music with the community.
“It is a storytelling show in song, I will be doing some poetry as well, but mainly telling my story, my songs that I have written myself, all original,” she said.
The atmosphere will marry up beautifully with Ms Fraser’s style of music, which has a homely and relatable feel.
“It is going to be quite a cosy atmosphere with hot chocolate and scones and just a lovely country afternoon tea sort of feel,” she said.
“I am going to have the courthouse decked out a bit like you are coming into a warm lounge room.”
At the show, people can expect to hear Australiana songs and songs that draw on Ms Fraser’s real-life experiences.
“They are very personal and topics that a lot of people would have experienced,” she said.
Ms Fraser is passionate about bringing people together through her music and invites the audience to share their stories on the afternoon.
“I like connecting with people and I feel like through music is a very expressive way to do that, a lot of people relate to my songs and my stories because I write about personal and relevant topics,” she said.
“I want this intimacy of being close to the people and them understanding the story.
“To me, it is all about the intimacy and the connection with the listener.
“Come along and enjoy the afternoon and I really want people to share their stories.
“It is more than just listening to music.”
