Hyundai Inster makes mega impression in compact package

The saying big things come in small packages rings true with Hyundai’s new Inster compact SUV, with the four-door, four-seater pure electric vehicle charging into the Limestone Coast in mighty fashion and ready to make you Inster-Famous!

In the current automotive world where manufacturers appear to be playing it safe to appeal to the masses, it’s refreshing to see Hyundai step up to the plate with a unique vehicle design for those who want it all in a small, futuristic package.

While the little Inster may be small in size, it’s big in features – and while it shines extremely bright zipping around the city with the ability to park in the smallest of spaces without hesitation, it also has plenty of potential when hitting the open road.

With a range of 327km (or 360km in it’s extended range format) and quick charging time from 10%-80% in just 30 minutes, a quick stopover to stretch the legs can get you charged up enough to continue on your journey.

Small in size does not mean small in the power department either, with the Inster sporting 71kW of power and 147Nm of torque, which is delivered smoothly through a single speed reduction gear transmission.

The EV motor makes the Hyundai Inster a zippy little beast with its instant acceleration helping the vehicle get up to speed, and despite being a taller vehicle for its size, it remains planted with no recognisable body roll around corners, ensuring you feel safe and in control behind the wheel.

There’s no hiding why the Inster was crowned the 2025 World Electric Vehicle winner at the 2025 World Car Awards, with it’s distinct exterior design leaving a lasting impression.

You will stand out from the crowd in this vehicle, with curves and bulges in the right places giving it a unique style and LED lighting absolutely everywhere!

Daytime running lights, mirror side repeaters, rear combination tail and stop lights and high mount stop light as well as front and rear turning signals all receive the LED treatment, and the rear of the vehicle looks incredible when lit up at night.

A great range of colour options are also available to give the exterior an extra bit of spice, with Atlas White featuring as standard alongside Abyss Black, Buttercream Yellow, Natural Ivory, Sienna Orange and Urban Khaki.

The interior is also lit up with LED treatment through vanity mirror, overhead console, room lamp and luggage compartment lighting, while black bumper garnish, gloss black radiator grille and hyper silver skid plates also enhance the vehicle’s exterior.

On this inside the good times keep on rolling, with the seats made from recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic, with the driver’s bench seat equipped with a six-way manual height adjuster with movable arm rest, a compact centre console and 50:50 split folding rear seat to increase rear cargo space when required.

Technology is also crammed into every inch of the Hyundai Inster, with a 10.25-inch full digital instrument cluster giving you all your vehicle vitals displayed in high-definition, while a second 10.25-inch display controls all your satellite navigation and multimedia essentials including Android Auto and Apple Carplay with all your favourite audio tracks broadcast through a six-speaker system.

Bluelink live-traffic updates and over the air navigation funcionality is also included, while a wireless charging pad, dual USB-C charging ports and a vehicle-to-load internal power outlet are also handy additions, with the ability to power up laptop chargers and other nifty gadgets direct from the vehicle.

In the way of safety the Inster provides you with Hyundai’s SmartSense package consisting of blind spot collision avoidance, drive attention warning, forward collision avoidance assistance with junction turning, high beam, intelligent speed limit, lane following, lane keeping, manual speed limit and rear cross traffic collision avoidance assists, while rear occupant alert and safe exit warnings are also handy additions.

The features are there, the design is fresh, but just how well does the little Inster drive? The short answer is ‘brilliant’!

For a car that stands a little taller for it’s shortened width and length, the Inster feels planted on the road whether you’re running daily errands or hitting the open road.

It’s actually very surprising to feel how punchy the power delivery feels while remaining smooth, meaning you will not feel like you’re missing out on that ‘oomph’ you may be familiar with in larger, more powerful vehicles.

This is also enhanced further when switching from Eco and Normal modes to Sport mode, while a Snow mode is also available for those wanting to head to the mountains in winter.

As always, Hyundai’s five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty is paired to every Inster sold, with 12 months of premium roadside support and up to 10 annual map updates included, while lifetime service plans are also available for those who wish to lock in hassle-free servicing.

If you’re looking for a vehicle that’s sure to be an Inster-nt hit, be sure to pop down and see the team at Barry Maney Hyundai at 43 Percy Street or contact the dealership on 8721 3400 to book a test drive today.
