AMount Gambier woman has been recognised for her outstanding support for IVF patients across the world, winning an international award.
Lucy Lines of Two Lines Fertility won the international award for Best Fertility Service from the European Fertility Society 2022 Fertility Care Awards.
The major award is presented to individuals and organisations who deliver outstanding patient service in reproductive health.
Ms Lines received the award for her ‘IVF WTF?!’ program, which empowers IVF patients with information regarding what will happen during their IVF cycle, behind-the-scenes information about their treatment and support through their treatment.
“It really is a one-of-its-kind program and that is really what set it apart in the world,” Ms Lines said.
Ms Lines attended the Fertility Care Awards Gala Event via Zoom and said she was “blown away” when she received the award.
“When they called out my name I was quite flabbergasted,” she said.
Ms Lines is one of only three embryologists offering independent fertility support and guidance in the world and has offered her Two Lines Fertility services for five years, however she has worked in the fertility space for 22 years.
She is a trained embryologist and a clinically experienced embryologist who previously worked in IVF clinics.
“I moved out of that clinical work and into supporting people because I really saw a big gap in that space, in that people just were not really empowered with enough knowledge about what was going on,” she said.
“I work out of my little home office and all of my information is available online so I have clients all over the world now.
“I have got a range of different services from one-one-one services through to group programs and resources people can download and work through on their own.
“I am very passionate about it because I think it really matters, I think people who are dealing with infertility are lost, overwhelmed, isolated.
“The main thing I want people to know is there is help out there if they are struggling with fertility.”
Ms Lines advised people who knew someone who was struggling with infertility to listen and support rather than offer guidance and advice.
“If you yourself are struggling with infertility, do not do it by yourself, reach out, there’s help out there,” she said.
“If you know someone who is struggling with fertility, please do not tell them to ‘just relax’ or ‘go on a holiday’, but do maybe drop my name into conversation and tell them that help is out there and they can get it.”
