It’s crunch time

The Limestone Coast Women’s Football League Under 16 competition will take center stage at Vansittart Park tomorrow night with two grand finals.

After five teams completed nine home and away rounds across the Limestone Coast it will be four teams in Hatherleigh v Tigers in Group A and Demons v Kyby in Group B with last season’s reigning premiers Kongorong bowing out.

Hatherleigh has had an outstanding season in their inaugural year, finishing the season undefeated.

On a couple of occasions the Eagles were pushed by the Tigers, who could become their nemesis come Friday night.

Both coaches on and off the field are great mates but when it comes to the heat of the battle the white line fever might kick in.

Players to watch out for Hatherleigh are Chloe Bellinger, Hannah Bellinger, Sebella Coghlan and leading goal kicker Niah Faulkner who all lead from the front.

However the Tigers also have plenty of stars and will be looking to Penny Coleman, Luca Roulstone, Heidi Berkin and Eadie Mustart to continue their good form.

This game will not be a game for the faint hearted and everything will be on the line Friday night.

Hatherleigh coach Laura Chester is looking forward to the challenge.

“We had a great first season in the competition and I do not think anyone would have predicted that we would be coming into a grand final undefeated, however that means nothing come Friday night when the ball is thrown up,” Chester said.

“North are a fantastic side led by great leaders on and off the field and we know they will have done their homework coming into the game Friday night and we can only prepare the best we can and look forward to the contest.”

While on the other side of the spectrum the Tigers will be looking to get the win.

Tigers coach Fiona Young said her team was undertaking final preparations to chase down the league leader.

“With a number of players returning from last season, we had a strong foundation on which to build from and have a consistent team that plays a distinctive brand of football,” Young said.

“The addition of Ryan Roulstone and Jason Baron to the coaching group has allowed us to dedicate time to developing key skills and that has been on show.

“We have had some solid wins and hard-fought losses, but the consistent execution of our game play has been wonderful to watch.

“The hard work and discipline of the playing group has positioned them well for the grand final and I know they will work hard for each other on Friday night.”

This will be a great game of underage women’s football and it will not disappoint.

POOL B GRAND FINAL

Demons v Kyby

Having played in last season’s grand final the Demons are looking for a win, despite playing in the lower final.

However Kyby are the big improvers of the year and have sent out a warning for the 2023 season.

This will still be a great game of football between two sides that can take it up to the best of them on any given day.

Kyby has some great ball winners in Evie Koch, Chloe Copping and Jessica Cox and will need these three firing on all cylinders to get the win.

The Demons have an array of fast players who can move the ball well, they will need to have the supply going forward uninterrupted and putting a big score on the board early.

Ella Guest, Bailey Broome, and Jarrah Altschwager will also lead from the front to bring other players in their side into the game while maintaining the pressure on the opposition.

Even though this is a group B grand final it will be closer than expected in a great battle and is too close to call out a winner.
