Australia’s best-selling Italian comedian Joe Avati will set the stage alight on March 18 with laughs at Casadio Park with a new show to celebrate his first performance in Mount Gambier for 12 years.
“It is always great bringing a brand-new show to a town that has not seen it before,” Mr Avati said.
The comedian is a fluent speaker of Italian and prides himself on creating clean comedy that is suitable for all ages and audiences.
Unlike many other comics that rely on crude and offensive jokes, he prefers to draw on his upbringing in a tight-knit, traditional Italian family creating a unique kind of comedy that every person in the audience can relate to.
Mr Avati is a second-generation Italian born in Australia so it should come as no surprise to fans that his new show talks about what he is famous for: ethnic comedy life.
“I will be talking about being a dad. The difference between me being a dad and how my dad was with me,” he said.
“There is a lot of great comedy now my parents are grandparents and how they treat my kids differently to the way they treated me.”
Mr Avati has been called one of the planet’s hottest comics by the international reviewers and has received rave reviews from the Daily Telegraph and The Age, among others.
He is currently preparing for a world tour and celebrating 25 years in the comedy business.
“I must be doing something right,” Mr Avati joked.
“People just need a good laugh due to COVID-19.
“The feedback I have been receiving after the show lately is that people have not laughed like that in a long time because they have been cooped up at home.
“Just come out and have a good, old fashioned belly laugh.”
