The 1.2 million rolls of Kleenex toilet paper made each day at the Kimberly-Clark Australia Millicent Mill now carry a warning about checking for bowel cancer symptoms.
The 400 company employees and contractors at the plant are also dedicated to the partnership between KCA and Bowel Cancer Australia.
Printing of the bowel cancer message on the cardboard core of the toilet roll began a few years at other manufacturers overseas.
“We’re incredibly proud to support the team at Bowel Cancer Australia, using our Kleenex toilet rolls to help address some of the toilet blind spots when it comes to bowel cancer symptom awareness,” Millicent Mill manager Adam Carpenter said.
“Thousands of Aussies already trust Kleenex in the toilet – and this crucial initiative transforms the humble loo roll into a bowel cancer awareness game-changer that helps Aussies to break the poo taboo.
“This is a natural step and partnership for Kleenex, and we hope it contributes to driving awareness, particularly as we head into Bowel Cancer Awareness Month.”
According to the promotional material, KCA wants to help Australians get comfortable about what’s left in the loo.
“Everybody poos so how can something that all eight billion of us do, be something that many of us are embarrassed by?” stated the promotional material.
“We’re asking the nation to break the taboo around checking your poo.
“We have partnered with Bowel Cancer Australia to help Australians develop a better understanding of their poo, the symptoms of bowel cancer and the importance of early detection, because when diagnosed early almost 99% of cases can be successfully treated.”
