Keith put it all together in round five of the Kowree Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League on Saturday.
The Crows were dominant in their victory against Naracoorte.
Mundulla, Kingston, Penola and Border Districts also recorded victories.
Keith produced their best performance of the year to outclass Naracoorte on Saturday.
The Crows jumped the Demons in the first quarter and never looked back as Naracoorte could not find a way back into the game.
The Crows won by 61 points in a big win.
Lewis Hender and Blake Read kicked four goals apiece for the Crows in the victory.
Daniel Bibby, Jack McAuley and Jonathon Wilson were solid contributors for the Crows all game in the victory to be named Keith’s best for the game.
Naracoorte had a struggle to find constant forward winners all game.
Zac Peake was a lone hand in front of the goals with four majors.
The Demons could not find any other players who could kick multiples.
The Demons’ best players were Dylan Albrecht, Rory Taggert and Zac Peake.
Border Districts continued their strong start to the season with a demolition job on Padthaway.
The Eagles held the Lions to just one goal until three-quarter time and ended up defeating the Lions by 85 points.
Dylan Schoenmakers was again strong in front of the big sticks with five goals for the Eagles.
Isaac Hewson, Dylan Schoenmakers and Dylan Auciello were the Eagles’ best players.
Padthaway struggled to put any scoreboard pressure on Borders during the game.
The Lions could only manage to get one multiple-goal kicker during the game.
Tom McLennan kicked two goals.
Jason McCarthy, Tarquin Brown and Mitchell Minns were the Lions’ best players.
Penola produced a strong fourth quarter to run away from Kybybolite and record their second win of the season.
In the first three quarters, the game was close and each margin at the change of ends was under a goal.
Penola worked hard in the fourth quarter and was able to pull away for a 23-point victory.
Joshua Currie kicked four goals in the victory.
Ben Copping kicked two goals in his debut game.
Ben is the son of Penola football great Jon and it would have been a thrill for Jon to see Ben kick two goals in his debut.
Jayden Eldridge, Joshua Currie and Bradley Merrett were the Eagles’ best players.
Brad Castine led the goals for the Tigers with two majors.
Billy Laurie, Matt Black and William Thorp were the Tigers’ best players.
Kingston held off a fast-finishing Bordertown to win by eight points at home.
The game was tight in the first half and neither team gave an inch.
Kingston put on a blitzing display in the third quarter to open up a 38-point lead by three-quarter time.
Bordertown made a charge in the fourth quarter but fell short.
The Roosters would be upset they did not kick straight in the last as they put through 5-7 to just fall short.
Ben Warner was outstanding for Kingston with five goals.
Todd Lockwood and James Siviour helped get the Saints the win with two goals each.
Ben Warner, Jack Armfield and Thomas Rogers were the Saints’ best players.
Thomas Whittlesea was strong in front of the goals for the Roosters with four goals.
Joshua Searle tried his best to help with three goals.
Bryce Damin, Petros Politis and Joshua Searle were Bordertown’s best players.
Mundulla used a third-quarter push to separate them from Lucindale as they recorded a strong 52-point victory against the Roos.
Lucindale led by a point at halftime, but a six-goal to one-goal third quarter saw Mundulla open up a match-winning lead and they never looked back.
James Hinge and Reagan Tink kicked five goals each to set the tone for the Tigers.
Billy Wiese also put in a great effort with three goals.
Jake McGrice, Elliot Jaeschke and Reagan Tink were Mundulla’s best players.
Josh Trembath kicked four goals for Lucindale in a fighting effort.
Henry Tregoweth kicked two goals to help the Roos out.
Lachie Jones, Luke Kelsh and Bradley Agnew were the Roos’ best players.
ROUND 5 PREVIEW
Padthaway v Kingston
Padthaway are at home to Kingston this week and the Lions will need to find their best form quickly if they are to take it up to the Saints.
The Saints look to have too much overall depth in their lineup for the Lions.
James Siviour could be looking at a day out in front of the goals if the Watts boys take control of the centre for the Saints.
The Lions need to shut them down.
Padthaway does not kick big scores, so they will need rain to make it a slog if they have any chance at home.
Tobin Cox and Tom McLennan are going to have to play great games if Padthaway is going to take it up to the Saints.
Mitchell Minns and Jason McCarthy are others who need to help the Lions.
Kingston has a very solid lineup all over the ground.
The Rogers boys in Tom and Ben lock down the backline and are the generals back there.
Orestis Gambranis has fitted in nicely alongside them as well.
Veteran Ben Warner is a gun player who now gets the freedom to run around after he has more help than ever before.
Kingston just seems to have too much firepower for the Lions and should pull out a solid victory.
Bordertown v Penola
Bordertown host Penola and this is a game that could be an important game for both teams.
Bordertown have not won a game this season, but they have had three losses under 8 points.
The Roosters just do not have any luck in close games so far in 2023.
Thomas Whittlesea and Jacob Eats have started the season in good form and will be hard for the Eagles to contain on Saturday.
Bryce Damin and Petros Politis have been great additions to the Roosters team as well.
The Eagles have a chance to win their third game in their past four and push up towards the top five teams.
The Eagles are finding their best lineup and are getting the results needed recently to keep their season on track.
Jayden Eldridge, Brock Egan, Bradley Bryant and Bradley Merrett form an experienced core for the Eagles and will need a big game if they are to get the points on Saturday.
The gut feeling is the Roosters will finally break through for a win at home on Saturday by a few goals.
Naracoorte v Mundulla
Naracoorte are at home to Mundulla and the Demons will be hoping they can bring their best football on their home deck to upset the Tigers.
The Demons got a reality check on Saturday from Keith who jumped the Demons and did not look back.
Coach Matt Willson will be working hard to sort out the problems with the side and looking to get them right before they face Mundulla.
The Tigers on the other hand are doing everything right.
They are not yet at full strength and keep banking the victories.
They play such a selfless brand of football and are well-led in the midfield by Jake McGrice who is having a great season again.
Another guy who is having a good season is Nick Mosey.
With the other teams’ main focus on McGrice, Nick just gets under the guard a bit and is a consistent performer every week.
The Tigers should be too strong in this contest I think with their overall depth but you cannot count out Naracoorte on their home deck.
Lucindale v Border Districts
Lucindale is at home to the rampant Border Districts.
The Roos are not the same outfit that won the grand final last year and it is showing this season so far.
Lucindale still has some great players such as Josh Trembath, Hamish Gordon, Henry Tregoweth, Brad Agnew and Riley McFarlane who can still link up and give Lucindale a chance. The overall depth of the Roos though is not there so far.
The Roos opponent Border Districts has been building moment with big wins the past three rounds. Dylan Schoenmakers has kicked 19 goals and looks like he is a great successful recruit for the Eagles.
The Bower boys in Mackenzie, Chase and Jameson have added some great experience to the Eagles side as well.
The Eagles are travelling a bit better and should have a solid victory on Saturday.
Keith v Kybybolite
Keith hosts the winless Kybybolite and on paper, it seems like a comfortable win should be coming up for the Crows.
The Tigers nearly had their first win of the season last Saturday and just needed the four-quarter performance to get across the line.
The Tigers have had a lapse in the game where the other team has got the 2-3 goal break the last two weeks and that has been enough to get the other team over the line.
If the Tigers can fix then they might be a chance.
They need big games from Billy Laurie and Stephen Craig to take it up to Keith.
The Crows should have too much firepower for the Tigers.
I feel the Crows will win comfortably.
