KNT clubs share minor flags

BGrade – Lucindale V Naracoorte
Before its top team claimed the A Grade prize, Lucindale’s Reserves side ensured it was a dream day by also tasting premiership success against Naracoorte on the KNTFL grand final day at Kingston on Saturday.

A slow start by both teams in the first quarter resulted in a seven-point lead to the Roos at the first change.

It was tough going for the Demons in the second term, but they pegged back the lead by kicking two majors to Lucindale’s solitary major and go to the main break only three points adrift.

A two goal third term from the Roos bolstered their score as they also held Naracoorte scoreless to enter the three-quarter time break in the box seat.

With Lucindale holding onto the lead right across the four terms of football they managed to kick another two goals in the final term to outplay the charging Demons.

The Roos celebrated their 23-point win with a solid performance from Sam Teakle, Tristan Menz and Travis Ware while for the Demons Bradley Lodewyk, Nic Boon and Josh Reeves were good in the defeat.

Under 17- Naracoorte V Kybybolite
The Tigers started proceedings terribly slow and allowed the Demons to get the early advantage in the Under 17’s decider.

A fight back was needed from Kybybolite as it headed into the first change 13 points down.

But that is what they did with an emphatic roar as the Tigers kicked six goals and held the Demons scoreless and take the lead at halftime by 24 points.

The premiership quarter was a bit more even with both sides pegging away and kicking goals, but Kybybolite came away at the last change still leading by 30 points

A three-goal last term to Naracoorte’s one sealed the deal for the Tigers to take the 2022 Flag.

Angus McKenzie, Sid Shepherd, and Ryan Castine helped seal the win for Kybybolite while the Demons’ better players were Harry Schroder, Lucas Leehane and Jack duRand.

Under 14 – Naracoorte V Kybybolite
Athrilling one-point win to the Demons sealed the Under 14’s flag in nail-biting fashion to kick off the KNTFL grand finals day with a bang.

Naracoorte did not even register a score in the first quarter, but Kybybolite kicked one major to have a minor lead at the first break by eight points

It was a little better for the Demons in the second term managing to kick a goal to get the scoreboard ticking over but the Tigers still found three majors to extend the lead out to 15 points at the main break.

In the third term Kybybolite did extended its lead to 31-6 to appear certain to take the flag.

But the Demons found something special to race home with four unanswered goals and score the win in a comeback of the century.

Darcy duRand kicked two goals and was supported by Harrison Clarke and Douglass Slattery in Naracoorte’s grand comeback while for the Tigers Joey Ottosson-crossling, Toby Morros and Logan Brodie performed well.
