The Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League heads to Kongorong this weekend to take on the Mid South Eastern Football League in an interleague game.
The KNTFL Knights have selected a strong team that will be led by two-time league medallist and Border Districts superstar Zac Richards.
The team is full of great players from across the league.
Darcy King (Mundulla), Riley Wilsdon (Keith) and Nathan Studham (Mundulla) are the stars of the forward line.
Mitch Minns (Padthaway), Henry Gould (Lucindale), Will Schreiber (Keith), Hagan Wright (Kingston), Daniel Bibby (Border Districts) and Sam Pridham (Border Districts) form a deep midfield.
Schreiber and Minns, in particular, will provide lots of run and carry for the team.
Wright and Bibby are class ball winners in and around the packs.
The backline of the team will be led by Troy Blackwell (Bordertown), who has had a very consistent season so far.
Blackwell’s Bordertown teammate Thomas Worthley will help defend the back line.
Jamie Bittner (Kybybolite), Tom Rogers (Kingston) and Anthony McCarthy (Lucindale) help form a solid defensive set-up for the Knights.
Nathan McCarthy (Padthaway) and Jordan Hooper (Padthaway) add valuable experience off the bench.
The league would be pretty confident of a great showing coming into the game.
Coach Richards said his side was looking forward to the contest.
“It’s very exciting to be a part of the interleague this year for the first time,” he said.
“Scott Carberry and I have had a tough job narrowing down the side to 22 from our initial squad of 32.
“We have got some very good players throughout the competition that have put their hands up and there’s going to be some good footballers who just miss out.
“Our defensive set-up is filled with KNT experience with the Rogers twins, Troy Blackwell, James Bittner and Tom Fisher all putting their hands up to play.
“I cannot wait to see this group put it together on game day and I think the selection of boys will complement each other nicely to play a fast, exciting brand of footy that hopefully can put it together on the day to give the MSE side a good challenge.”
