Landscape board levy rise

Primary producers across the region will pay $400 to a State Government agency in the next financial year.

The $397.70 levy on all rural production properties is paid to the Limestone Coast Landscape Board and is $8.45 more than the 2023/24 financial year charge.

The levy appears on the council rates notice with local government acting as a tax collector for the State Government.

There have been modest increases in the three other property categories.

Residential and vacant properties attract a levy of $93.90, a commercial property owner will pay $140.60 and the levy for industrial land is $216.80.

Councils are required to pay a Regional Landscape Board Levy each year to the Limestone Coast Landscape Board.

The purpose of the Landscape Board is to expend levy funds to manage and protect priority water, land, marine and biodiversity assets in the South East.

The LCLB has declared the levy will increase by 5.9% for 2024/25.
