Leadership change for water board

The Millicent-based South Eastern Water Conservation and Drainage Board is set to have only its fourth administrative head in almost 50 years.

Drainage operations manager Lee Morgan is stepping down next month after six years in the key role.

His two immediate permanent predecessors gave long service with Evan Pettingill in charge for 29 years while Michael Talanskas was in the job for 13 years.

Mr Pettingill was titled “executive officer” while Mr Talanskas was known as the “general manager”.

The Drainage Board has also had a number of interim leaders including Nick McIntyre and Bill Beumer.
