The South East Animal Welfare League recently received a donation of $7310 thanks to Blue Lake Bar and Bistro owner and manager Bill Burley and the Blue Lake Golf Links.
The fundraisier for the not-for-profit organisation was held during October, which included a golf day, quiz night and community night where $5 from every adult meal purchased was given back to the league.
There were also donation tins on the bar for people to leave a small donation.
When Mr Burley heard the welfare league was seeking funding assistance, he got straight to work in a bid to help out.
“It is a great organisation and I think it’s an important part of our community,” he said.
Mr Burley said each year he intended to dedicate a month to raising money for the South East Animal Welfare League and next year he hoped to reach their $10,000 target.
The league thanked those who supported the fundraising effort for their generosity.
Animal welfare league Fundraising Committee Member Natalie Zwar said the money would go towards general expenses of running the facility, which is estimated to be more than $150,000 each year.
“We’re very grateful, we were happy, we were successful,” Ms Zwar said.
“At the end of the day, we were absolutely stoked.
“I’m grateful for what Bill has done and I’m glad that he’s put his hand up to help us next year as well.”
