Lions pride shines

The Kalangadoo Lions Club has been very active this year, undertaking a range of activities.

In a special highlight, the club hosted District Governor Caroline Kilpatrick and her husband Roger for a Lions dinner meeting recently.

The group conducts a raffle every Friday night at the Kalangadoo Hotel with the help of Sean Docherty from the “Kalangadoo Hilton”.

The winner receives one of five meat trays provided by Collins Court Butchers in Mount Gambier.

The proceeds from the meat tray raffle all go back into the community.

Groups to have received donations of $1000 include the Kalangadoo Primary School and Kindergarten, Kalangadoo Bowling Club, CFS, Kalangadoo Remembers, history group, railway museum, Glencoe Kindergarten, Nangwarry Primary School and Nangwarry Forestry Museum.

The club includes the areas of Kalangadoo, Nangwarry and Glencoe and has recently added a new trailer to its organisation, which can be used with permission of the CFS.

The trailer houses the barbecue and also has facilities to make tea and coffee.

It is available for emergencies or general events.

Due to a successful grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the club has secured a defibrillator, which has been installed on the outside of the Kalangadoo Memorial Institute Hall and it will be for general use.
