Seven brand new Literacy Learning Kits were officially launched by the Mount Gambier Library during their Book Week Storytime.
Mount Gambier Library Children’s Services Officer Bek Coates said the Literacy Learning Kits had been developed to foster the love of literacy learning at home.
“Each kit contains a mix of books and additional resources such as puppets, toys and puzzles, for families to use together to create rich conversations, build strong relationships around learning and develop early literacy skills,” Ms Coates said.
The kits have been purchased thanks to the sponsorship from Friends of the Library Mount Gambier with president Chris Lloyd in attendance to hand over the kits for borrowing.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of Friends of the Library who donate their time and effort to raise funds, such as the recent ‘Big Book Sale’. This money goes directly back to the community with library initiatives, services, programs and materials,” Ms Coates said.
The seven kits incorporate themes including George the Farmer, Animals and Emotions Numbers.
The Literacy Learning Kits can be reserved by contacting the Mount Gambier Library online at mountgambier.sa.gov.au/library or via phone one 08 8721 2540.
