Littermates land treble for Kampman

Purdeet-based Annette Kampman, who has been training greyhounds since the 1990s, landed her first treble at Tara Raceway’s time-graded meeting on Thursday with littermates Myola Pocket, Myola Red Boy and Myola Queen.

Her best day ever at a greyhound track – in terms of winners, anyway – kicked off in the Carlin & Gazzard MG Stake (5+wins) over 400 metres with Myola Pocket.

She quickly took up the running from box seven and was never headed, eventually running out a three-length winner over Ajmer in 23.37 seconds.

Then, it was Myola Red Boy, who, after settling in third spot mid-race in the 512 metre event, took the lead off the back in the Gordon Refrigeration Stake (1-4 wins).

And in the run home the fawn dog had 2½ lengths to spare over Who Knows Chloe in 30.69 seconds.

Kampman’s treble came in the final event, the 512 metre Swallow Drive Meats Stake (5+wins), when Myola Queen took over off the back, eventually defeating Shim’s Heart by 2¼ lengths in 30.55 seconds.

“Gee, that was nice to be able to train three winners on the same day,” said the winning trainer in her customary laid-back style as she led back her 26th winner this year at Tara Raceway.

The littermates, also bred by Kampman, are by Lightning Frank out of Pocket Queen, a daughter of Barcia Bale and Crown Poker.

“I picked up Pocket Queen after she retired with breeding in mind.

“She raced on 24 occasions for only one win but that was over 660 metres at Bendigo so I was hoping she might throw a bit of strength into her pups.

“She’s since whelped a second litter – two dogs and two bitches by Aussie Infrared.

“They’re now 12 months old and I’m looking forward to seeing how they turn out.”

Dundee Calypso, who is a litter sister to Pocket Queen and won 15 races and $124,000 in stakemoney, also has a 12-month-old litter by Aussie Infrared.

Team Roberts chases another Fast Forward win

Christian Roberts was successful with Lubbock Lad in April’s Fast Forward and his father Mark with Hatchet Harry in Sepember.

Now, Mark’s wife Catherine, the third member of the Terang-based training team, looks to hold a strong hand in today’s Fast Forward.

She has Concrete Comedy through to the final after his all the way win last Thursday over 400 metres in 23.28 seconds – the second-fastest of the five heats.

By Aston Dee Bee out of Trianna, the black dog will go into today’s $1345 final looking to maintain his unbeaten record at Tara Raceway after having won his only four starts at the track.

The Fast Forward concept is worked as per the normal time-based format whereby greyhounds are graded on a worst to best basis in the heats.

However, the final field is determined by times alone with no relevance necessarily given to the greyhound’s finishing position.

So, as far as today’s final is concerned, no greyhounds from the first heat – won by Okay Flash in 23.69 seconds – have made it through to the final.

Fast Forward heat time honours of 23.09 seconds went the way of Paw Some Sloane, trained at Moorak by Jason Newman who will be chasing his third Fast Forward win over 400 metres.

The daughter of Bernardo and Dusseldorp overcame a slow start to quickly put herself in the race before taking up the running off the back.

And on the line the blue fawn bitch had 3¼ lengths to spare over Marcus Moloney – also into today’s final.

Actually, it’s turned out to be a busy week for the pair.

Paw Some Sloane backed up again at last Sunday’s meeting where she finished fourth behind El Banjo in the Williams Crane Hire Juvenile Stake (512 m).

And later, Marcus Moloney defeated Time After Time by a half-length in 23.25 seconds in the Carlin & Gazzard MG Stake (400 m).

The Fast Forward 1-4 wins (400 m) monthly concept was introduced at Tara Raceway in March when it was won by the David Peckham trained Recapture Time in 23.31 seconds.

In the following months the series has been won by Lubbock Lad (Christian Roberts, 22.99), Aston Knox (Paul Cusack, 23.29), Johnny Deeds (Dean Fennell , 23.64), Wind Burn Flash (Jason Newman, 23.07), Hatchet Harry (Mark Roberts, 23.38) and Super Cobra (Jason Newman, 23.44).
