Mount Gambier supercar superstars Kai Allen and Jobe Stewart will attempt to conquer the infamous Mount Panorama track for the Repco Bathurst 1000 this weekend.
Allen currently leads the Super2 Series championship on 1032 points while Stewart is sitting at fifth with 720 points.
However, Allen has hit a hurdle early, with his car colliding with the wall during qualifying, leaving his team with a race against time to repair the vehicle before Race 1 this afternoon.
Stewart will start Race 1 in P2, while Allen will start from 15th, after having his fastest time wiped for bringing out the red flag.
Stewart drove to redemption at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 last round to boost his championship position from eighth to fifth and win Rookie of Round after a tough weekend in Townsville the race prior.
“Bathurst is probably the track I have raced on most in the last couple of years so I am feeling pretty confident going back there and we were fast at the start of the year there with a second place finish in the race,” Stewart said.
“I have been there enough times now that I can just go straight into it and practice and try and go as fast as I can.”
Allen will tackle double duties again this weekend as he also competes in the main game as a codriver with Will Davidson for Dick Johnson Racing representing the Shell V-Power Racing Team.
It was announced in August that Allen will make the move into the Repco Supercars Championship full time next year after signing a long term deal with Grove Racing.
The Mount Gambier drivers will qualify for and compete in race two tomorrow while Allen will race in the Repco Supercars Championship on Sunday.
The final race of the 2024 Super Series2 season will take place at the VAILO Adelaide 500 from November 14-17.
