Locals defend home turf

Ameagre field of 36 turned up at Bordertown for SE Veterans golf on Monday and the locals scooped the pool in the results.

Mark Dolling claimed first division honours with 38 points from Peter Barras on 37 and Rob Harkness on 35. Barras and Harkness were both fatigued from their participation in the Masters Games, so put in a mighty effort to play consistent rounds.

Second Division went to Peter Vile who complained it was about time.

He had 36 points and was closely followed by Pat Ryan (35) and Jethro Jarratt (34) on a countback.

The Ross Orchard trophy was awarded to Ian Regnier and Gav Sparrow and the NTP’s Mark Dolling, Chris Carr, Terry Chant and Wayne Dunsford.

The weather was perfect for golf with great greens and wonderful fairways, but the scores did not reflect that.

The next outing is at Beachport on Monday, May 2 because of Easter and Anzac Day falling on a Monday.
