Craig Wirth and Wayne Davison shared the round of the day with 39 apiece winning A and B Grade respectively last Saturday at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.
Wirth started on the back nine with an impressive 38 off the stick which saw him take the turn with 21 points
A steady 18 points on the front including birdies on the 4th and 8th holes allowed him to post 39.
Davison also started on the 10th hole but was glad to see the back of it with only 14 points to show.
However, Wayne set the front nine alight with a 38 off the stick which collected no less than 25 points to match Wirth’s total of 39.
Rob McIntyre and Peter Berkefeld finished in second place in A and B Grade respectively with 38 points each.
Kevin Lennon and Peter Jones posted 36 points each in C Grade with count-back giving the win to the former.
The ball rundown extended to 33 points with Damian Smith taking the last one.
Nearest the pin on the 8th hole went to John Gee and Bryan Hunt on the 16th green with both players holding their nerve and rolling in their birdie putts.
Players were met with predominantly dry conditions for last Thursday’s stableford round and the improved conditions were reflected in the scores.
John Miles, Paul Kenny and Tony Bolton shared the round of the day with all players returning 39 points.
Miles has hardly stopped swinging in recent weeks and the extra practice helped him collect the points.
The highlight was a birdie on the Par 4 3rd hole before he finished with four three pointers by the end of an impressive round.
