Major choral milestone

The Millicent Choral Society has announced two major events next month to mark its 50th anniversary.

There will be a sit-down evening meal at the Millicent Football Netball Clubrooms at McLaughlin Park on October 19.

On the following afternoon, choirs from across the region will join the choral society for a concert at the Millicent War Memorial Civic and Arts Centre.

As part of the celebrations, the choral society is publishing a book with selected details of events, concerts and songs performed over the last 50 years.

The group was founded in 1974 and it has already had two public singing engagements in its Golden Jubilee year.

It took part in the 44th annual Anzac Accolade at the Mount Gambier Salvation Army Citadel in April.

The event is a fundraiser for Legacy and attracts community leaders, MPs and a variety of performers.

The group took part in the annual South Australian Country Choral Festival at the Murray Bridge Town Hall last month.
