Memorabilia home sought

Apermanent “home” is being sought for some sporting memorabilia associated with the Tantanoola Cricket Club.

It was formerly a force in the Millicent and District Cricket Association but it has been in recess for a number of seasons.

Tennis is another summer sport that used to be popular at Tantanoola but also suffered from waning interest and is no longer played at the township’s oval.

One of the last major successes for Tantanoola cricketers was claiming the B Grade title for the 2013/14 season.

This premiership pennant is looking for a home along with many others.

The last officeholders of the Tantanoola Cricket Club has closed its bank account and given the remaining funds to charity.

In consultation with the club’s life members, the beneficiaries are the Jane McGrath Foundation and its breast cancer nurses along with a brain cancer research foundation.

Among the suggested places to display the cricket premiership pennants are the Tantanoola Football Club and the Tantanoola Institute Hall.
